Fairy Forest Mixed Media Panel - Free Video Tutorial

9/17/2023

Hello, creative souls.
Today I want to share my inspiration with you and Finnabair blog

Imagination is crucial for a creative individual, especially an artist, as it fuels the ability to envision new worlds and concepts. And it is important to develop your imagination. There are many exercises that can help with this. Here are the simplest ones that anyone can do. 😉

1. Mindful Observation

Take time to closely observe everyday objects or scenes and imagine them in unique and imaginative ways. For example, turn a simple tree into a fantastical, otherworldly creature.

2. Doodling and Free-Form Drawing

Let your hand wander freely on paper without any specific goal. This can help generate spontaneous and creative ideas, allowing your imagination to flow freely.

3. Storytelling through Art

Challenge yourself to create a visual narrative or story through your artwork, encouraging you to think creatively about characters, settings, and plotlines. This exercise can foster a deep connection between imagination and artistic expression.

Let's try the third one! A walk in the woods can become a magical adventure if you let your imagination run wild. "Deep within the forest, among the greenery and flowers, grew an ancient tree. In this tree was a hollow where a forest fairy made her cozy home. She weaved her bed from moss and fragrant herbs, finding the sweetest sleep there. Let's not disturb her slumber."

The three-dimensional composition is assembled using moulded figures, metal embellishments, flowers, natural twigs and cones. All decorative elements are glued onto Heavy Body Gel. Metallic flakes, paints and waxes filled my panel with vibrant colors.
